The Girl Scouts of Suffolk County is one of the biggest youth agencies active on Long Island. Girl Scouts aim to empower girls and to develop character by teaching values such as courage, fairness and honesty through activities such as camping and community service. Scouts earn badges as they acquire each new skill set, and they also move up in ranks, receiving special awards as recognition of their accomplishments. 

Comprehensive programs are offered to both girls and their families, including field trips, various themed parties, and mother-and-daughter crafts. Scouts are also offered summer camp opportunities at Camp Edey in Bayport, which is a stunning 95-acre natural preserve on the Sans Souci Lakes. Camp Edey offers boating, fishing, swimming, arts and crafts, and talent shows.
